APAPA CUSTOMS BREAKS RECORD! ₦28.1BN GENERATED IN JUST 24 HOURS

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Apapa Area Command, has achieved another landmark revenue milestone, generating ₦28.1 billion in a single day, the highest daily collection ever recorded by the Command.

The Command generated ₦28,102,000,914.61 on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, surpassing its previous single-day record of ₦20.1 billion, achieved in September 2025, shortly after Comptroller Emmanuel Oshoba assumed office as Customs Area Controller.

The latest feat comes barely weeks after the Command recorded an unprecedented ₦323 billion in monthly revenue in July 2026, underscoring the sustained impact of reforms, improved compliance, intelligence-driven operations, trade facilitation and increased efficiency in Customs processes.

Reacting to the development, Comptroller Oshoba said the record was more than a revenue milestone, stressing that Customs collections contribute directly to the resources available to government for national development.

According to him, revenue generated by the Service supports government priorities in areas such as infrastructure, security, education, healthcare and other public services that affect the wellbeing of Nigerians.

Oshoba dedicated the achievement to the government and people of Nigeria, while commending the Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, MFR, PhD, and the management of the Service for their continued support for automation, modernisation and reforms aimed at making Customs operations more efficient, transparent and business-friendly.

He also appreciated compliant importers, exporters, licensed Customs agents, other stakeholders and patriotic Nigerians whose cooperation and actionable intelligence contributed to the Command’s performance.

The Apapa Customs boss emphasised that every compliant transaction contributes to national development, urging stakeholders to continue supporting legitimate trade and compliance with Customs regulations.

He noted that a stronger revenue base provides government with greater capacity to meet the needs of citizens while creating a more conducive environment for businesses to operate and thrive.

Oshoba further charged officers and men of the Command to remain focused and avoid complacency, stressing that the latest record should serve as a greater responsibility to improve performance.

He directed personnel to sustain revenue collection while upholding trade facilitation, professionalism, transparency and respect for stakeholders. He also called for the prompt resolution of legitimate disputes and urged officers to ensure that Customs procedures do not unnecessarily obstruct lawful businesses.

The Apapa Area Command said it remains committed to sustaining its revenue performance through enhanced compliance, trade facilitation, professionalism, digitalisation and stronger collaboration with stakeholders.

The Command maintained that every legitimate revenue collected strengthens the government’s capacity to implement development programmes and deliver improved services to Nigerians.
