Customs Launches MIS File Tracker at PTML, Targets Faster Internal Processes and One-Hour Cargo Clearance
The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has launched a new Management Information System (MIS) File Tracker, with the PTML Area Command serving as the pilot location for the nationwide rollout of the digital administrative platform.
The Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, MFR, said the initiative is part of the Service’s broader technology-driven reforms aimed at simplifying personnel administration, improving documentation processes, and enhancing operational efficiency.
Speaking at the launch through the Deputy Comptroller-General in charge of ICT and Modernisation, Oluyomi Adebakin, the CGC described the deployment as another major milestone in the NCS modernisation agenda.
Acting Controller of the Command, Deputy Comptroller Nura Miko, expressed confidence in the command’s ability to successfully implement the new system and serve as a model for Customs innovation nationwide.
Miko said PTML is already maximising technology-backed trade facilitation initiatives introduced by the NCS management and pledged that the command would ensure the success of the MIS rollout.
He thanked the Comptroller-General for the confidence reposed in the command and disclosed that efforts are underway to reduce the current two-hour cargo clearance timeline for compliant Roll-on/Roll-off (RoRo) cargoes to one hour.
Describing the MIS File Tracker as a bold step towards consolidating the NCS’s position as a leading Customs administration in Africa, Miko assured stakeholders that the PTML Command would justify the trust placed in it by delivering a successful implementation from the pilot phase to full operational deployment.
