APFFLON Congratulates Adeniyi on Tenure Extension

The Africa Association of Professional Freight Forwarders and Logistics of Nigeria (APFFLON) has congratulated the Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), CGC Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, MFR, on the extension of his tenure by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, describing the development as a well-deserved recognition of his exceptional leadership and transformational reforms.
In a statement signed by its National President, Otunba Frank Ogunojemite, the association commended the Federal Government for retaining Adeniyi, noting that his administration has repositioned the Nigeria Customs Service through improved revenue generation, enhanced trade facilitation, robust stakeholder engagement, intensified anti-smuggling operations, and accelerated customs modernization.
According to APFFLON, the tenure extension provides the Customs boss with the opportunity to consolidate the gains recorded under his leadership while advancing reforms that will further strengthen the nation’s economy and border management.
While celebrating the development, the association appealed to the Comptroller-General to prioritize the welfare of serving and retired customs officers during his extended tenure. It specifically called for the introduction of a comprehensive, lifelong healthcare programme for customs personnel, citing the occupational risks and sacrifices associated with their duties.
APFFLON maintained that a sustainable healthcare system covering officers and their families during active service and retirement would significantly improve morale, productivity, and commitment to national service.
The association also urged the Nigeria Customs Service to strengthen its insurance schemes and welfare packages, stressing that adequate health and life insurance would provide greater security for officers who risk their lives daily in safeguarding Nigeria’s borders and protecting the country’s economic interests.
According to Ogunojemite, Adeniyi’s extended tenure presents a unique opportunity to leave an enduring legacy, not only through institutional reforms and increased revenue generation but also by improving the welfare and overall well-being of the men and women of the Nigeria Customs Service.
Reaffirming its support for the Service, APFFLON pledged to continue collaborating with the Nigeria Customs Service in promoting trade facilitation, economic development, and policies that enhance the welfare of officers and stakeholders across the maritime and logistics sector.
The association wished the Comptroller-General continued wisdom, strength, and success as he leads the Nigeria Customs Service to greater heights.
