Mother’s Day: Francis Nwifuru Applauds Mothers for Upholding Family Values

Gov Francis Nwifuru of Ebonyi, has applauded the roles of mothers in promoting family values, community development, moral uprightness and spiritual growth of the state.

Nwifuru made the remarks on Sunday, in a message issued to newsmen on the occasion of Mother’s Day celebration in Abakaliki.
Mother’s Day is a day set aside to honor the virtues of motherhood, celebrate dignity of women and recognise the positive contributions of mothers to the family, the Church and society.

The governor urged women to imbibe the unique qualities of jesus’ mother Mary, whose humility and strict pursuits of things that edify the spirit, made her the mother of the saviour of mankind.
“I celebrate you, our mothers; You remain the moral compass of our homes, assistants in building the future, co- custodians of faith, the silent architects of peace and social stability.

“Your sacrifices, prayers, resilience, and devotion continue to sustain our families and strengthen our society,” he said.

According to him, Mother’s Day is not merely a religious observance but a profound recognition of the sacred vocation of motherhood as ordained by God.
“It is a moment to celebrate women who through love and sacrifice shape generations and inspire hope,” he said.

He reassured the people of his administration’s commitment to policies and programmes that uplift women and improve their overall well-being in line with the enduring principles of “People’s Charter of Needs Agenda”.

Nwifuru also commended impact of the Better Health for Rural Women (BERWO) pet project of his wife, Mrs Mary-Maudline Nwifuru, designed to address health and welfare challenges facing women especially in rural communities.

“BERWO has become more than a programme, it is a movement of compassion, restoration and empowerment,” he said
He, consequently, urged mothers to continue to uphold the values of faith, peace, discipline and moral instruction that have long distinguished godly women.
