The Executive Secretary and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Shippers’ Council, Akutah Pius Ukeyima, has attained a major academic milestone with the award of a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in International Criminal Cooperation from Nasarawa State University, Keffi.
The conferment took place during the institution’s 8th combined convocation ceremony, which also marked its 25th anniversary and attracted dignitaries from across Nigeria and beyond.
Reflecting on the achievement, Dr. Akutah described the moment as the culmination of a seven-year academic journey. Although he completed his doctoral requirements in 2024, he formally received the degree at the convocation ceremony.
He noted that his pursuit of a PhD was driven by a passion for teaching and knowledge sharing. According to him, his work as a lecturer in International Criminal Law has seen him train legal professionals—including lawyers, prosecutors, and judges across multiple jurisdictions.
Dr. Akutah also underscored the importance of continuous learning, stressing that education remains essential for effective leadership and personal development.
With this academic feat, he reinforces the value of intellectual growth in public service, sending a strong message that leadership is best strengthened through lifelong learning.
