NEW FOU ZONE A BOSS UNVEILS BOLD REFORM AGENDA

The newly appointed Controller of the Federal Operations Unit (FOU) Zone A, Comptroller Aliyu Gambo, has unveiled a reform-centred agenda anchored on three key pillars: Change Management, Compliance Management, and Reputational Management.
Speaking during an interview with journalists, Comptroller Gambo said his administration would be guided by the principles of accountability, motivation, transparency, and professionalism. He noted that his leadership approach aligns with the vision of the Comptroller-General of Customs, Dr. Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, MFR, whose emphasis on meritocracy and competence-based human resource management continues to drive reforms within the Nigeria Customs Service.

Comptroller Gambo explained that Change Management would be a major priority under his leadership, with particular focus on attitudinal reorientation among Customs personnel, the trading public, and border communities. He stressed that sustainable institutional reform begins with a shift in mindset, noting that officers must uphold professionalism and discipline, while stakeholders must recognise that Customs operations are guided by national interest and the rule of law.
He further observed that the Nigeria Customs Service is operating within a rapidly evolving global trade environment that requires adaptability, intelligence-driven enforcement, and constructive engagement with stakeholders. According to him, effective change must be reflected in improved behaviour, stronger institutional values, and a more resilient organisational culture.

Comptroller Gambo reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening compliance and safeguarding the reputation of the Service, assuring that his administration would work closely with stakeholders to enhance operational efficiency while maintaining firm enforcement standards.
