Kebbi Customs, Nigerian Army Deepen Security Ties with Benin Republic Counterparts at Maje Border

In a renewed effort to strengthen cross-border security and safeguard government assets along the Maje border corridor, officers of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Kebbi Area Command, and the Nigerian Army paid a strategic working visit to Tsamiya/Sebgana on Wednesday, November 12, 2025.
The delegation, led by Comptroller Mahmoud Matawalle Ibrahim, fdc, Customs Area Controller, and Major Shola Elijah Moses, Commanding Officer of 1 Battalion, Nigerian Army, was warmly received by officers of the Beninese Customs, Kebbi Command personnel, and other key stakeholders.


During the visit, Comptroller Ibrahim underscored the importance of cross-border cooperation and intelligence sharing between the security agencies of both nations, noting that effective border management requires synergy, mutual trust, and shared responsibility.
“Security is a collective responsibility. Our visit here reinforces our commitment to deepening cooperation and building stronger ties with our Beninese counterparts to ensure a safer and more secure border,” he said.
Responding, the Comptroller of Customs for Wara Border, Benin Republic, Arouna Dramane, commended the initiative, describing it as a timely and progressive step toward enhancing regional security. He conducted the Nigerian delegation on a tour of Beninese Customs facilities and pledged sustained collaboration in intelligence exchange and joint operations.
The engagement concluded with an exchange of goodwill messages and a reaffirmation of both countries’ commitment to peace, security, and cooperation along the Nigeria–Benin border.
