Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun, says the rollout of the National Single Window (NSW) project in early 2026 will transform trade facilitation, reduce bottlenecks, and reinforce Nigeria’s economic stability.
Edun gave the assurance on Tuesday after chairing the 63rd quarterly meeting of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) Board at the Customs House in Maitama, Abuja. He described the initiative as a landmark reform of the Tinubu administration.

“The National Single Window is a legacy project of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. It will revolutionise trade by reducing bottlenecks, cutting costs, and speeding up cargo clearance. This combination of digital automation and efficiency will significantly boost our economy,” Edun said.
The Minister explained that Customs has already deployed WCO-accredited officers who contributed to drafting business process requirements and vendor selection, with ongoing technical support from the Trade Modernisation Project Limited.
Conceived to integrate all trade-related government agencies onto a single digital platform, the National Single Window aims to harmonise clearance processes, reduce bureaucracy, and improve Nigeria’s competitiveness in global commerce.
Edun added that the reform would complement fiscal measures already stabilising inflation, exchange rates, trade balance, and foreign reserves.
On Customs’ performance, the Minister disclosed that between January and June 2025, the Service generated ₦3.68 trillion, surpassing revenue targets by 11.85% and marking a 25% increase compared to the same period in 2024.

“Revenue for the first six months stood at about ₦3.7 trillion, which is above target by almost 12% and represents a strong improvement over last year. Customs has demonstrated that reforms and technology can significantly enhance revenue mobilisation,” he said.
Edun stressed that Customs’ performance remains critical to all tiers of government since revenue generated flows directly into the Federation Account.
“With the Single Window initiative fully operational, we expect even greater efficiency and higher returns,” he affirmed.
