FG Declares Friday Public Holiday for Workers’ Day Celebration

The Federal Government has declared Friday a public holiday to mark the 2026 International Workers’ Day, allowing Nigerian workers to celebrate their contributions to national development.
The announcement was made by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, in a statement issued on Wednesday in Abuja by the ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Magdalene Ajani.
Tunji-Ojo praised Nigerian workers for their resilience, commitment, and vital role in driving the country’s growth and prosperity. He urged them to continue embracing patriotism, productivity, and dedication to duty, noting that these values are essential for sustainable national development.
He reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to improving workers’ welfare and ensuring a secure, enabling environment for economic progress.
The minister also encouraged workers to use the occasion to reflect on the importance of unity, diligence, and collective effort in nation-building.
He extended warm congratulations to workers across the country, wishing them a peaceful and rewarding 2026 Workers’ Day celebration.
