APM TERMINALS LAUNCHES 24-HOUR BARGE OPERATIONS

APM Terminals Apapa is set to commence 24-hour barge operations from October 1, 2026, in a move aimed at improving the seamless movement of export and import containers and strengthening supply chain efficiency.
The announcement was made by the company’s Head of Commercial, Kayode Olufemi Daniel, during the third edition of the APM Terminals Apapa Exporters Forum, themed “Exports – Voice of Customers Forum.”

The forum brought together exporters, shipping lines, logistics operators, industry stakeholders and members of academia to discuss ways of strengthening Nigeria’s export ecosystem and addressing key challenges across the supply chain.
According to the company, the round-the-clock barge service will provide customers with greater flexibility to move export cargo into the terminal, evacuate import containers and return empty containers at any time of the day.
The initiative is also supported by ongoing investments in logistics infrastructure, including the expansion of capacity at APM Terminals Apapa’s dedicated Finger Jetty.

The company said the enhanced service forms part of its broader commitment to developing smarter and more reliable supply chain solutions while supporting Nigeria’s export growth.
With the introduction of 24-hour barge operations, APM Terminals Apapa is expected to further enhance cargo evacuation, improve turnaround times and provide greater flexibility for businesses engaged in Nigeria’s import and export trade.
