Ondo Amotekun Commander, Olowo bag UN Eminent Peace Ambassador award

The United Nations (UN) has honoured the Ondo Amotekun Corps Commander, Mr Adetunji Adeleye and Olowo of Owo, Oba Ajibade Ogunoye, with Eminent Peace Ambassador award.
 
Adeleye and Ogunoye were decorated by Per Stafsen, World Peace President of the International Association of World Peace Advocates (IAWPA) in Akure on Monday.
 
The world swift news (WSN)  confirm that the event was part of activities lined up for the 2025 UN International Day of Cooperative with the theme; Cooperative A tool for promoting global peace.
 
He described the country as a great asset to the promotion of peace in the world.
 
Stafsenm, represented by International Director, IAWPA, Mr Chidi Ehiriado, commended the awardees, “particularly Adeleye for his laudable achievements”
 
According to him, Nigeria is a wonderful nation and its citizens should work towards the development of the country.
 
“Nigerians should not allow religion and racism to bring the country down,” he said.
 
Speaking with newsmen on the sidelines of the event, the Amotekun Commander, Mr Adetunji Adeleye, described peace as a catalyst for socio-economic development.
 
Adeleye appreciated Gov. Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo for providing an enabling environment for Amotekun Corps to thrive and making the state peaceful.
 
“With this award, it is a call to greater duty and greater responsibility.
 
“We want to assure of sustained peace in Ondo State, which men and officers of the corps will ensure, in collaboration with other security agencies,” he said.
 
Also, Oba Gbadegesin Ogunoye, Olowo of Owo, said the meeting was important to have peace in the land.
 
Ogunoye, also the chairman of the occasion, said the essence of cooperatives was to ensure that everyone had livelihoods to cater for their children.
 
“It is when people are empowered financially, health-wise, education-wise, that people will have peace of mind and assurance of the future,” he said.
 
The traditional ruler appreciated Aiyedatiwa for good governance and provision of security.
