Transporters for Tinubu 2027 Seek Collaboration with Maritime Workers’ Union

The leadership of the Maritime Workers’ Union of Nigeria (MWUN) recently received the executives of Transporters for Tinubu 2027, a political support group, during a courtesy visit to the union’s national headquarters in lagos.
During the meeting, the delegation explained that the visit was part of efforts to foster structured collaboration between government, transport operators and private sector stakeholders, while also encouraging grassroots participation in policies and reforms aimed at improving national mobility and economic growth.
According to the group, the initiative seeks to promote the vision, structure and programmes of the Transporters for Tinubu 2027 project by engaging critical stakeholders within Nigeria’s transport ecosystem, including labour unions and industry operators.

The delegation noted that the Maritime Workers’ Union of Nigeria remains one of the most influential labour organisations in Nigeria and across Africa, particularly given its strategic role in maritime and inland water transportation. They therefore described the union as a key partner capable of amplifying the objectives of the Tinubu 2027 project within the transport sector.
Responding, the President-General of MWUN, Comrade Adewale Adeyanju Bunu, thanked the group for recognising the union’s contributions to national development.
He reiterated that the union would always support initiatives that promote progress, unity and sustainable development in Nigeria.
Comrade Bunu, however, emphasised that the Maritime Workers’ Union of Nigeria remains a non-partisan labour organisation, even as it continues to advocate policies and programmes that promote good governance and the overall advancement of the country.
