Association recognises freight-forwarding leader’s contributions to maritime development and humanitarian causes
The Maritime Reporters’ Association of Nigeria (MARAN) has conferred the prestigious title of Patron on the President of the National Association of Government Approved Freight Forwarders (NAGAFF), High Chief Tochukwu Ezisi, in recognition of his contributions to Nigeria’s maritime industry and humanitarian initiatives.
The investiture took place during the MARAN Maritime Annual Lecture (MAMAL) 2026, held in Lagos.
High Chief Ezisi is a seasoned freight forwarder whose decades of experience and contributions to the freight-forwarding profession have earned him recognition within and beyond Nigeria’s maritime community.
He is also known for his philanthropic activities and commitment to supporting individuals and communities.
Speaking on the honour, MARAN President, Mr. Oluyinka Onigbinde, said the decision reflected the association’s appreciation of individuals who have distinguished themselves through professionalism, service and contributions to the growth of the maritime sector.
Onigbinde added that Ezisi’s elevation as Patron was expected to further strengthen the relationship between MARAN and stakeholders in the freight-forwarding industry and the broader maritime community.
The MARAN President noted that MAMAL had, over the years, provided a credible platform for critical discussions on issues affecting Nigeria’s maritime industry, attracting policymakers, government officials, regulators, industry leaders, academics, journalists and other stakeholders.
The 2026 edition also brought together senior government officials, freight-forwarding practitioners, maritime regulators, members of the academia, bureaucrats and other key players across the Nigerian maritime sector, including the founder of NAGAFF.
MARAN described the investiture as one of the highlights of MAMAL 2026, stressing that the honour underscored its commitment to recognising individuals whose contributions advance professionalism, collaboration and sustainable development in Nigeria’s maritime industry.
