The Oyo/Osun Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has recorded significant enforcement and revenue milestones, with seizures valued at over ₦2.7 billion and revenue performance that exceeded its 2025 target.
The Acting Customs Area Controller, Deputy Comptroller Wale Adewole, disclosed this on Thursday, 29 January 2026, during his maiden press briefing at the Command’s headquarters.
Adewole said the seizures were the result of intelligence-driven operations, sustained patrols and coordinated enforcement across identified flashpoints within the Command’s area of responsibility.
“In the discharge of our statutory duties, the Command recorded remarkable seizures of prohibited and uncustomed goods through credible intelligence, diligent surveillance and coordinated enforcement strategies,” he stated.
Items intercepted included foreign parboiled rice, used tyres, premium motor spirit, used clothing, pharmaceutical products, foreign spaghetti, compressors, illicit drugs, smuggled vehicles and other prohibited goods. Adewole warned that the Command would not relent in its anti-smuggling drive, describing smuggling as economic sabotage and a threat to public safety.
He further disclosed that the Command generated ₦8.37 billion in revenue in December 2025 alone and exceeded its annual revenue target by more than ₦13.1 billion, representing a 15.22 per cent increase.
According to him, the improved performance was driven by enhanced compliance, effective monitoring mechanisms, officer professionalism and sustained engagement with stakeholders.

Adewole also underscored the importance of collaboration with sister security agencies, noting that inter-agency cooperation remains vital to effective border management.
He commended the Comptroller-General of Customs, Adewale Adeniyi, for his leadership and support, and appreciated the Oyo State Government for its cooperation with the Service.
“This maiden press briefing underscores our commitment to transparency and accountability,” he said, adding that the media remains a critical partner in promoting public awareness of Customs operations.
The briefing marked Adewole’s first official engagement with the media as Acting Customs Area Controller of the Oyo/Osun Area Command, reaffirming the Command’s resolve to sustain enforcement, boost revenue generation and facilitate legitimate trade.
