The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Tincan Island Port Command, has celebrated outstanding officers and announced a record-breaking revenue performance of over ₦1.6 trillion for the 2025 fiscal year.
The recognition ceremony, held on Wednesday, January 28, 2026, at the Command’s headquarters in Lagos, highlighted the Command’s success in surpassing its ₦1.524 trillion revenue benchmark for the year.
Customs Area Controller (CAC), Comptroller Frank Onyeka, described the achievement as a significant improvement over previous years, attributing it to teamwork, enhanced efficiency, and improved transparency rather than individual efforts.
“A tree can never make a forest. I could not have done it alone. Too much has been given to us, and much is expected. Our officers deserve appreciation for their tireless efforts,” Onyeka said.

He explained that the awards ceremony underscored a renewed institutional culture within the Service—one that prioritises diligence, professionalism, and shared responsibility.
The CAC also outlined operational reforms introduced under his leadership to strengthen trade facilitation and internal efficiency, particularly steps aimed at eliminating avoidable delays in file processing.
“Upon assumption of office, I made it clear that files should not be held unnecessarily. If there are issues, they should be clearly identified and addressed. And if you are unsure of what to do, ask,” he noted.
Onyeka added that the recent launch of the Time Release Study report by the Comptroller-General of Customs, Adewale Adeniyi, has further reinforced the Command’s commitment to expediting legitimate trade while ensuring strict regulatory compliance.
He paid glowing tribute to his predecessor, Deputy Comptroller-General of Customs, Dera Nnadi, describing his tenure as “superb” and crediting it with laying a strong foundation for the Command’s current successes.

The CAC also expressed gratitude to the Comptroller-General, officers, stakeholders, and partners for their continued support and confidence in the Command despite prevailing economic and operational challenges.
Award recipients, in their remarks, described the recognition as both an honour and a renewed call to higher levels of responsibility and service.
