BREAKING : Fubara Reassures Rivers People, Pledges Unity and Renewed Focus on Development

Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has assured residents of his unwavering commitment to peace, unity, and sustainable development, following the end of the emergency rule in the state.

In a statewide broadcast on Thursday, Governor Fubara described the emergency period as one of the most turbulent phases in the state’s history, noting that it came with “hard but necessary lessons.” He emphasized that his choice not to challenge the presidential declaration was born out of conviction that no sacrifice was too great in the pursuit of peace.
“The costly peace is cheaper than the cheapest war,” the governor remarked, stressing that the priority now is to consolidate stability and accelerate social and economic progress for the people of Rivers State.

Governor Fubara expressed gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, whom he credited with a “fatherly intervention” that restored full democratic governance to the state. He also acknowledged the efforts of key political stakeholders, including his political leader and former governor, Nyesom Wike; the Senate President; the Speaker of the House of Representatives; and members of the Rivers State House of Assembly.

Their collective role, he said, was vital in brokering peace and ensuring democratic continuity. Addressing concerns from his supporters, the governor reassured them that “not everything is irretrievably lost,” pointing out that the state still has significant opportunities to recover lost ground. He pledged to resume funding for ongoing projects, ensuring their completion, and to prioritize policies that would improve the welfare of Rivers residents.
Governor Fubara further pledged to work harmoniously with the House of Assembly in order to drive reforms, deliver key infrastructure, and restore public confidence. “The responsibility now lies with leaders to put aside personal interests and pursue the common good,” he said.

He commended Rivers people for their resilience, peaceful conduct, and prayers during the difficult period, assuring them that their sacrifices would not be in vain. “Together, we will build a more prosperous and united Rivers State,” the governor declared.
