APC Attacks on ADC Members Show Desperation, Says Akuma

A chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Nelson Ahamefula Akuma, has condemned what he described as sustained attacks on ADC members nationwide by thugs allegedly working for the All Progressives Congress (APC), saying the actions reflect desperation on the part of the ruling party.

Akuma made the remark while congratulating the newly recognized ADC national executive led by David Mark, following its confirmation by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
He alleged that from Kebbi to Kaduna, Lagos, and Ondo, ADC and coalition members have been harassed and attacked by political thugs and security operatives while attempting to hold meetings.

“As far as I am concerned, this is a clear sign of desperation. The ruling party is jittery because it knows Nigerians have rejected it. But no amount of violence or falsehood will stop the change of leadership that is coming in 2027,” Akuma said.
The ADC chieftain accused the APC of abandoning its campaign promises to Nigerians, resorting instead to propaganda and intimidation. He urged party members nationwide to remain calm and avoid retaliation, stressing that “two wrongs cannot make a right.”

According to him, Nigerians are determined to vote out the APC in 2027 due to worsening economic hardship and insecurity. “What our people are going through today is even worse than the suffering experienced during the civil war,” he lamented.

Akuma described the recognition of the ADC’s national executive by INEC as a victory for Nigerians, declaring that the opposition coalition remained resolute.
“The train has already moved, and what APC and their thugs are trying to do is like attempting to stop a moving train with bare hands. Darkness may fight light, but light must prevail; good will triumph over evil,” he said.
