MWUN Mourns Loss of Deputy President-General Taofeek Dabiri

The Maritime Workers’ Union of Nigeria (MWUN) has been thrown into mourning following the death of one of its senior members, Comrade Taofeek Dabiri, who until his passing served as Deputy President-General (DPG) of the Nigeria Ports Authority (NPA) branch.
In a statement issued by the union’s President-General, Comrade Francis Bunu Abi, described the late Dabiri as a devoted unionist, a dependable ally, and a man whose life exemplified humility, discipline, and respect for all.
Dabiri was widely regarded within the union as a warm and approachable personality, known for his cheerful disposition and ability to foster unity across diverse backgrounds. His colleagues recalled his unique ability to connect with people irrespective of tribe or status, earning him admiration and respect across the maritime community.

Renowned for his impeccable conduct and strong moral values, the late union leader was described as a rare breed whose presence brought positivity and calm to every gathering. His colleagues noted that his sense of style, composure, and interpersonal relationships often left lasting impressions on both members and visitors alike.
An emotional Bunu expressed deep sorrow over the loss, noting that Dabiri was not only a trusted associate but also a steadfast supporter who was always willing to answer the call of duty.
“He was a good man, honourable and dependable. His exemplary life will remain difficult to forget, not just for me, but for the entire union,” Bunu said.
The MWUN leader added that Dabiri’s legacy of service, unity, and dedication would continue to inspire members of the union for years to come.
He prayed for the repose of his soul, asking Almighty Allah to grant him Aljannah, while also seeking divine comfort and protection for the family he left behind.
The late Dabiri’s passing marks a significant loss to the Maritime Workers’ Union and the broader maritime sector, where he was celebrated for his commitment and outstanding contributions.
