IMION Unveils Executive Course to Drive Nigeria’s Blue Economy, Maritime Trade Growth

The International Maritime Institute of Nigeria (IMION), the Nigerian Navy’s premier maritime research institute and think-tank, has announced plans to host a high-level executive course aimed at strengthening strategic knowledge, policy development and professional capacity in Nigeria’s maritime and blue economy sectors.
The three-day Executive Course on Logistics and Trade Facilitation for Blue Economy Growth is scheduled to hold from September 7 to 9, 2026, at the IMION Auditorium, NNS QUORRA, Harbour Road, Apapa, Lagos.
According to a statement issued by IMION Management on Wednesday, August 12, the programme is specifically designed for C-Suite executives, policymakers and senior strategists involved in shaping industry frameworks and driving the implementation of national and regional maritime strategies.
The course, which begins daily at 9:00 a.m., is expected to provide participants with strategic insights into logistics, trade facilitation and emerging opportunities within the blue economy, while promoting alignment between Nigeria’s maritime ambitions and global industry standards.
IMION said the initiative forms part of its broader commitment to advancing academic and professional excellence and equipping key stakeholders with the knowledge required to support sustainable growth across Nigeria’s maritime domain and the wider Gulf of Guinea.
The institute noted that strengthening the connection between local execution and international best practices remains critical to unlocking the economic potential of Nigeria’s maritime sector, particularly as the country intensifies efforts to leverage its blue economy for trade, investment, employment and national development.
