2027: NNPP Orders Nationwide Mobilisation for “Patriotic Politicians with Capacity

The New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) has directed its state executive committees across the country to begin immediate mobilisation for politicians with proven competence and integrity ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The party has also ordered a renewed membership drive, including fresh registration and an update of its existing membership database.
The directive was contained in a statement issued on Friday in Lagos by the party’s founder and Chairman of its Board of Trustees, Dr. Boniface Aniebonam.

Aniebonam said all state and local government officials must ensure that only individuals with verifiable records, honour and integrity are admitted into the NNPP.
He noted that the party had previously been distracted by leadership disputes involving the NNPP and the Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso-led Kwankwasiyya Movement, which resulted in a series of litigations that weakened its electoral competitiveness.
“Now that we have reasonably put those issues behind us, all hands must be on deck to advance the NNPP’s primary objective of entrenching good governance in Nigeria,” he said.
Aniebonam added that existing members unwilling to uphold the values and ideals of the NNPP are free to join other political parties.

“We hold no grudge against anyone. We pray that those who have left find favour where they have gone,” he said. He added that, as a matter of principle and faith, the party has forgiven former members—despite what he described as acts of betrayal that led to their expulsion.
The BoT Chairman stressed that he personally bears no animosity toward Senator Kwankwaso or Elder Buba Galadima.
According to him, the NNPP had only cautioned the Kwankwasiyya Movement against negotiating under the NNPP name and using the wrong party logo.

He clarified that the official NNPP logo remains a basket of fruits in green and white not the red-coloured book symbol associated with the Kwankwasiyya group.
“INEC cannot register two parties with the same name but different logos,” he said, urging Kwankwaso and his supporters to take advantage of Nigeria’s multiparty system by joining any other registered political party, or by reviving their previously deregistered Nigeria Alliance Party.
Aniebonam reaffirmed that he founded and registered the NNPP in 2001, explaining that Kwankwaso joined in 2022 through the Kwankwasiyya Movement, which was given the party’s presidential ticket for the 2023 elections under a Memorandum of Understanding that expired after the polls.
