The Executive Secretary and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Shippers’ Council (NSC), Dr. Akutah Pius, MON, has lauded the Maritime Reporters’ Association of Nigeria (MARAN) for its significant contributions to the growth and development of the nation’s maritime sector.
Dr. Akutah gave the commendation during a courtesy visit by MARAN’s executive team, led by its President, Mr. Godfrey Bivbere, to the NSC headquarters in Lagos. Describing MARAN as a critical stakeholder in the industry, the NSC helmsman praised the association’s commitment to accurate news dissemination and its role in shaping maritime discourse.

He also expressed strong support for MARAN’s upcoming seminar on War Risk Insurance Premium, noting that such initiatives are crucial to advancing sectoral reforms and awareness.
Dr. Akutah further commended the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola, CON, for his strategic efforts to reposition the maritime sector as a key contributor to Nigeria’s economic growth.
In his remarks, Mr. Bivbere outlined MARAN’s agenda for the seminar and appealed for the Council’s partnership in making the event a success. He emphasized the importance of NSC’s involvement as the nation’s Port Economic Regulator in driving home the relevance of the subject matter.
The meeting concluded with a shared commitment from both parties to deepen collaboration and jointly foster innovation and development across Nigeria’s maritime industry.
