The management of China Classification Society (CCS), led by Mr. Zhang Qingyue, Business Development Manager for Africa, paid a courtesy visit to the Secretariat of the Nigerian Shipowners Association (NISA) on 27 July 2026.
During the visit, the CCS delegation highlighted the organisation’s global standing and commitment to supporting the maritime industry. CCS is a member of the International Association of Classification Societies (IACS) and is currently ranked fifth among its members. The society classifies a fleet of over 36,000 vessels, representing approximately 200 million gross tonnage (GT), with an average fleet age of 9.5 years.
CCS also holds flag-state authorisation from 64 countries, including the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), enabling it to provide statutory survey and certification services on behalf of these administrations.
The courtesy visit focused on strengthening the relationship between CCS and Nigerian shipowners, with both parties expressing a shared commitment to fostering collaboration and exploring mutually beneficial opportunities within the maritime sector.
The President of NISA was represented at the meeting by the Association’s General Secretary, Otunba Rowaye Olawale Jubril, who received the delegation on behalf of the Association.
