Tantita Boosts Maritime Security, Donates 15 Gun Boats to Nigerian Armed Forces

In a major boost to Nigeria’s maritime security architecture, Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited has handed over 15 newly acquired gun boats to the Nigerian Armed Forces to strengthen operations against oil theft, piracy, and other criminal activities along the nation’s waterways.
The commissioning ceremony was held on Thursday at the Nigerian Navy Boatyard in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, attracting top military officials, representatives of Tantita Security Services, and dignitaries from across the region.
Of the 15 gun boats donated, seven were handed over to the Nigerian Army, while the Nigerian Navy received eight vessels to support enhanced maritime patrol and rapid response operations in the Niger Delta and coastal areas.

Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited, a private security firm headquartered in Effurun, Delta State, is widely known for its role in protecting Nigeria’s critical oil and gas infrastructure through pipeline surveillance, paramilitary escort services, and advanced security operations.
Speaking during the event, officials highlighted the significance of public-private collaboration in safeguarding Nigeria’s maritime domain and protecting critical national assets from economic sabotage.

The newly commissioned gun boats are expected to improve surveillance capacity, operational readiness, and deterrence against illegal bunkering, smuggling, and piracy, which have continued to threaten Nigeria’s maritime economy and coastal communities.
The development further underscores growing efforts to secure Nigeria’s waterways and ensure safer navigation for both commercial and civilian maritime activities.
