The Nigerian Shippers’ Council (NSC) has reinforced its commitment to corporate social responsibility with the donation of a specialized adjustable dental chair to General Hospital Apapa, Lagos.
The donation, aimed at strengthening oral healthcare delivery within the Apapa community, was presented by a delegation led by the Council’s Director of Special Duties on behalf of the Executive Secretary/Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Akutah Pius, MON.
Speaking during the presentation, the Director emphasized the Council’s dedication to initiatives that directly enhance the well-being of Nigerians, noting that access to quality healthcare is a vital pillar of sustainable community development. He stated that the Council remains proud to support improvements to medical infrastructure within its host communities.

The newly installed dental chair is designed to enhance patient comfort and improve the efficiency of dental procedures. Its adjustable and specialized features are expected to enable practitioners to deliver higher standards of care, reduce procedural strain, and provide a more positive treatment experience.
Receiving the equipment, the Medical Director/CEO of the hospital, Dr. Lateefat Omolara Agbaje, described the intervention as timely and impactful. She expressed appreciation to the Council, noting that the donation would significantly strengthen the hospital’s dental unit, expand treatment capacity, and help reduce waiting times for patients in Apapa and neighbouring communities.

The initiative underscores the Nigerian Shippers’ Council’s longstanding tradition of supporting its host communities through meaningful social investments. Beyond its statutory mandate of regulating and promoting efficiency in Nigeria’s maritime sector, the Council continues to demonstrate that sustainable development is closely tied to impactful community engagement.
