The Ikorodu Ferry Terminal will resume passenger ferry operations on Monday, January 19, 2026, following the successful resolution of navigational challenges that led to its temporary closure.
The terminal was shut on October 20, 2025, due to safety concerns arising from extensive water hyacinth infestation, which obstructed navigation along the waterway. During the period of closure, ferry services were redirected to Ibeshe Terminal and Offin Jetty to ensure continuity of operations.
Authorities confirmed that the affected waterways have now been fully cleared, comprehensive safety assessments completed, and necessary consultations concluded with the National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA). Based on these measures, the terminal has been certified fit for full resumption of services.
Ferry operators have been directed to recommence normal operations in accordance with their approved schedules, while strictly adhering to all existing safety and operational guidelines.
The reopening is expected to restore seamless water transportation services for commuters in Ikorodu and its environs.
