Workers of the Indorama Unit of the Maritime Workers’ Union of Nigeria (MWUN) have lauded the union’s President-General, Comrade Francis Bunu Abi, for his leadership role in the successful signing of a Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) with Indorama Eleme Petrochemicals Company Limited at the Onne Port Complex, Rivers State.
In a jointly signed letter by the Unit Chairman, Comrade Obarijima, and Secretary, Comrade George O. Moses, the workers described Bunu as a responsive and committed leader whose dedication to workers’ welfare remains unmatched in the industry.
They noted that his unwavering stance on prioritizing workers’ interests and refusal to compromise on key welfare issues were instrumental in securing the agreement. According to the workers, such commitment underscores the vital role of labour in driving national economic growth.
The union members further highlighted that the diplomatic approach adopted by the MWUN leadership, alongside the President-General’s sincerity of purpose, ensured the smooth conclusion of the CBA negotiations.
They praised the transparent leadership style of the union, describing it as a key factor in achieving a mutually beneficial agreement that supports both workers’ welfare and the continued growth of Indorama.
The workers also expressed appreciation to the management of Indorama for its cooperation and commitment throughout the negotiation process, while offering prayers for the continued success of the union and its leadership.
