Babandede Charges Kirikiri Lighter Terminal Officers on Discipline, Integrity

The Kirikiri Lighter Terminal (KLT) Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service on Wednesday, 4 February 2026, played host to the Assistant Comptroller-General of Customs in charge of Zone A, Mohammed Babandede, during a strategic operational visit aimed at strengthening efficiency and service delivery.
The Acting Customs Area Controller of the Command, Deputy Comptroller Bolaji Lukman Adigun, received ACG Babandede and his delegation, describing the visit as timely and highly motivating for officers and men of the Command.
In his remarks, Deputy Comptroller Adigun reaffirmed KLT Command’s commitment to revenue generation, enforcement, and trade facilitation, assuring that all operations would remain aligned with the strategic vision and core objectives of the Nigeria Customs Service.

Addressing officers, ACG Babandede emphasised the critical role of discipline, dedication, integrity, and teamwork in achieving operational excellence. He urged officers to remain vigilant, adhere strictly to established procedures, and adapt proactively to emerging trade and border management challenges, while embracing innovation and accountability.
The ACG also reviewed revenue performance, enforcement strategies, and stakeholder engagement processes. He interacted with officers across operational units, observed ongoing activities, and offered guidance on improving performance and enhancing service standards.


Describing the visit as a defining moment for the Command, Deputy Comptroller Adigun noted that the ACG’s insights and directives would sharpen operational focus and boost efficiency. He assured that the Kirikiri Lighter Terminal Area Command would continue to support the mandate of the Nigeria Customs Service, safeguard the national economy, and facilitate legitimate trade.
