Troops Rescue Two Kidnap Victims, Recover ₦3.8m Ransom in Kogi

Troops of the 12 Brigade, Nigerian Army, deployed to the Forward Operating Base in Oguma, have rescued two abducted persons in Kogi State and recovered ₦3.8 million ransom meant for their release.
The operation was conducted on 2 November 2025, following credible intelligence on kidnapping activities along the Itobe–Adumu–Ejule axis and reports that relatives of the victims were attempting to deliver ransom to the abductors.

Acting on the information, the troops moved towards Achigili Forest but came under fire from the kidnappers. The soldiers responded decisively, forcing the criminals to abandon the victims and flee into the forest with gunshot wounds.
The rescued victims were immediately debriefed and placed in safe custody, while the recovered ransom money was returned to them. Formal handover procedures to appropriate authorities are ongoing.

The Nigerian Army reaffirmed its commitment to sustained operations to dismantle criminal networks in the state and urged the public to continue providing actionable intelligence to support ongoing counter-kidnapping efforts.
