The Tincan Island Port Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has announced a record-breaking revenue collection of ₦16.41 billion in a single day, attributed to the deployment of its new Unified Customs Management System (UCMS), popularly known as Bodogwu.
According to a statement issued on Thursday in Lagos by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Superintendent Oscar Ivara, the milestone was achieved on Tuesday, August 19, 2025.
Customs Area Controller, Comptroller Frank Onyeka, described the feat as “a clear win for technological efficiency and collaboration,” noting that Bodogwu has transformed the Command’s operations by streamlining payment processes, cargo clearance, and monitoring activities.
“The Bodogwu system has drastically improved access for licensed Customs agents and stakeholders, enabling real-time transactions without unnecessary delays or administrative bottlenecks,” Onyeka said.
He explained that the platform integrates all critical elements of Customs and port operations under a single digital interface, ensuring faster processing, accurate valuation, and enhanced transparency.
Onyeka stressed that the achievement goes beyond revenue numbers, highlighting it as proof of the transformative impact of technology on port modernization and trade facilitation. He also credited the Command’s collaboration with terminal operators, shipping companies, licensed Customs agents, and regulatory agencies for the success.
“The coordinated approach ensures that cargo clearance is seamless, compliant, and business-friendly,” he added.
The Controller reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to trade facilitation, revenue generation for national development, and providing timely, cost-effective services to port users.
