The Oyo State Police Command has arrested four suspects in connection with the alleged hijacking and diversion of a truck loaded with 654 bags of salt.
Parading the suspects before newsmen on Tuesday in Ibadan, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, CSP Adewale Osifeso, said the arrest followed actionable intelligence gathered by operatives.
“Acting on credible leads, the diligent officers of the Oyo State Police Command apprehended the suspects at Golden Hotel, Gbagi, Ibadan, around 9:00 p.m. on Sunday,” Osifeso stated.
The arrested individuals, aged between 34 and 42, were found in possession of an unregistered Volvo truck loaded with 654 bags of salt, each weighing 20 kilograms.
Osifeso noted that investigations are ongoing and the suspects will be charged to court upon completion of inquiries.
He commended members of the public for their cooperation and the vital information that led to the successful operation. He also reaffirmed the command’s commitment to reducing crime in the state to the barest minimum.
