The Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) has announced the opening of its Blue Economy Accelerator Programme (NIMASA-BEAP) application portal on October 5, 2026.
The programme is targeted at young Nigerians aged 18 to 28 with innovative ideas and solutions capable of contributing to the growth and transformation of Nigeria’s maritime and blue economy.
According to NIMASA, the initiative is designed to identify, nurture and support young innovators through a structured programme featuring a National Innovation Hackathon and a 12-week Accelerator Programme.

Applications will close on November 13, 2026, followed by evaluation and due diligence from November 16 to December 2. The National Innovation Hackathon is scheduled for December 8–10, while the 12-week Accelerator Programme will commence in the first quarter of 2027, culminating in a National Demo Day in the second quarter.
NIMASA Director-General, Dr Dayo Mobereola, said the initiative reflects the Agency’s commitment to positioning young Nigerians at the forefront of innovation, entrepreneurship and technology within the blue economy.
He said the future of Nigeria’s blue economy would be driven by ideas, innovation, enterprise and collaboration.
The Agency therefore encouraged eligible young innovators to prepare their ideas and take advantage of the programme as part of efforts to develop innovative solutions for Nigeria’s maritime future.
