The Commissioner of Police, Ports Authority Police Command, CP Oluwatoyin Iyabode Agbaminoja, has reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to strengthening security across Nigeria’s seaports following a courtesy visit by the newly appointed Controller of Customs, Tincan Island Port Area Command, Comptroller J.A. Anani.
The visit, which took place at the Command Headquarters in Apapa, Lagos, was aimed at reinforcing the longstanding collaboration between the Nigeria Customs Service and the Nigeria Police Force in securing the nation’s maritime domain and facilitating legitimate trade activities within the ports.
During the meeting, Comptroller Anani commended the Ports Authority Police Command for its sustained efforts in maintaining security, law, and order within the port environment. He stressed the need for continued cooperation among security and regulatory agencies to address emerging challenges and ensure seamless port operations.
The Customs Controller noted that effective inter-agency collaboration remains vital to enhancing operational efficiency, promoting trade facilitation, and safeguarding critical national infrastructure within the maritime sector.
Responding, CP Agbaminoja congratulated Comptroller Anani on his appointment and assured him of the Command’s readiness to work closely with the Nigeria Customs Service and other stakeholders in strengthening the security architecture of the nation’s ports.
She emphasized that intelligence sharing, joint operations, and coordinated enforcement strategies are essential in combating criminal activities and ensuring a secure and conducive environment for maritime business.
Both leaders pledged to deepen the existing partnership between their agencies, underscoring their shared commitment to promoting a secure, efficient, and globally competitive maritime industry.
