Renowned transport and logistics expert, Dr. Segun Musa, has been appointed Chairman of the 12th Nigeria Transport Lecture, scheduled to hold on June 18, 2026, in Lagos.
The annual industry gathering, organised by Transport Day newspaper, will focus on the theme: “Multi-modal Transportation Safety in Nigeria: Prospects, Challenges and Contribution to National Growth.” The event is expected to bring together key stakeholders from the public and private sectors to examine critical safety concerns, policy reforms, and strategies for enhancing Nigeria’s integrated transport system.
Dr. Musa, who serves as Chairman and Managing Director of Widescope Logistics International, is widely recognised for his extensive contributions to transportation, logistics, and supply chain management. His appointment is seen as a reflection of his longstanding influence within the sector.
The keynote address will be delivered by the Registrar of the Council for the Regulation of Freight Forwarding in Nigeria (CRFFN), Mr. Kingsley Onyekachi Igwe. Other distinguished speakers expected at the event include the National President of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transportation (CILT), Dr. Boboye Oyeyemi; the Dean of the School of Transportation and Logistics, Lagos State University (LASU), Prof. Ogochukwu Ugboma; and the Director-General of the National Automotive Design and Development Council (NADDC), Otunba Joseph Osanipin.
The lecture, scheduled to take place at the Radisson Blu Hotel, Ikeja, has over the years evolved into one of Nigeria’s foremost transport industry platforms, attracting policymakers, regulators, academics, and business leaders to discuss solutions to challenges facing the transport and logistics sector.
Previous editions have featured notable personalities, including former Director-General of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), Dr. Dakuku Peterside; former Permanent Secretary, Dr. Anthonia Ekpa; and the Managing Director of the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC), Dr. Kayode Opeifa.
Speaking ahead of the event, Editor of Transport Day Media, Mr. Frank Kintum, described the annual lecture as a vital platform for addressing emerging issues and fostering practical solutions within the industry.
According to him, the choice of this year’s theme was driven by the growing integration of road, rail, maritime, and air transport systems across the country, underscoring the need to place safety at the centre of transportation development.
“As governments continue to invest in transport infrastructure and interconnectivity, safety cannot be treated as an afterthought. The success and sustainability of these investments depend largely on how effectively safety concerns are addressed across all modes of transport,” Kintum stated.
He added that the lecture aligns with Transport Day Media’s commitment to promoting policy dialogue, knowledge sharing, and industry collaboration aimed at building a safer, more efficient, and globally competitive transport and logistics ecosystem in Nigeria and across Africa.
