A lone vehicular accident on the Oshodi-Apapa Expressway has claimed the life of a driver after a Honda Pilot Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) lost control and overturned several times before coming to a stop at Charity Bus Stop, inward Iyana Isolo, Lagos.
The fatal crash, which occurred in the early hours of the day, prompted a swift emergency response from officials of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) and officers of the Nigeria Police attached to the Mosafejo Division. Preliminary investigations revealed that the SUV suddenly veered out of control, resulting in a violent rollover that left the vehicle extensively damaged and the driver trapped inside. The victim was confirmed dead at the scene due to the severity of the impact.

LASTMA personnel, who were on routine traffic management duties in the Iyana Isolo area, quickly mobilized to the accident scene. Working alongside police officers, they successfully recovered the body from the wreckage while ensuring smooth traffic flow and preventing further incidents along the busy corridor. The remains were later evacuated by the State Environmental Health Monitoring Unit (SEHMU) to a public mortuary, while the damaged vehicle was handed over to the police for further investigation.
Reacting to the incident, the General Manager of LASTMA, Mr. Olalekan Bakare-Oki, expressed deep sorrow over the loss of life and extended condolences to the family of the deceased. He urged motorists to prioritize safety by obeying speed limits, avoiding reckless driving, and adhering strictly to traffic regulations. According to him, road users must recognize that no journey is worth risking human life, emphasizing the need for caution, especially during late-night and early-morning travel when visibility and alertness may be compromised.
