Oshoba Hits Ground Running, Sets ₦20.1bn Daily Collection Record at Apapa Command

Barely a day after assuming office as Customs Area Controller (CAC) of the Apapa Port Command, Comptroller Emmanuel Oshoba has set a new revenue milestone, collecting ₦20,156,077,098.56 on Tuesday, September 9, 2025.

The figure, recorded through the Unified Customs Management System (B’Odogwu), stands as the highest single-day revenue ever achieved by any command in the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), surpassing the previous record of ₦18 billion.

In his maiden address on Monday, Comptroller Oshoba had pledged to build on the legacies of his predecessor, Assistant Comptroller-General Babatunde Olomu, and ensure the command not only meets but exceeds its revenue target.
Shortly after taking over, he held a strategic meeting with senior officers, charging them to maintain their dedication, intensify productivity, and demonstrate that outstanding results are the true proof of hard work and integrity.

Commenting on the landmark feat, Oshoba described the ₦20.1bn collection as a pointer to greater prospects under his leadership, stressing that it was not yet time for celebration.
“Clapping means removing your two hands from work,” he said. “Let us leave the applause for the future, when we achieve even greater milestones  from surpassing revenue targets to curbing smuggling and enhancing trade facilitation without compromising integrity. I believe in action, which speaks louder than words.”

The CAC also commended officers, stakeholders, and port users for their roles in the achievement, urging sustained compliance and collaboration. He emphasized that the adoption of B’Odogwu is pivotal to modernizing customs administration and positioning Nigeria as Africa’s trade hub.
“With this record, we are all part of history. Our collective efforts are resonating positively on the economy, and the journey has only just begun,” Oshoba said.
