The people of Ohafia Udumeze community in Ohafia Local Government Area of Abia State have declared their firm support for the re-election of Senator Orji Uzor Kalu in the 2027 general elections.
This position was made public in a statement issued by renowned academic, Prof. Kalu Eni, and made available to the News Men on Tuesday in Abakaliki.
Prof. Eni emphasized that Ohafia Udumeze would not be part of any alleged plot to undermine the senator representing Abia North Senatorial District, stating that Kalu’s performance in the Senate justifies his return to the red chamber.
He noted that the Ohafia clan remains content with its current political representation, including the Deputy Governor, Mr. Ikechukwu Emetu, and the House of Representatives member, Hon. Ibe Osonwa.
“Senator Kalu’s achievements, both as a former governor and now as a senator, have brought tangible development to our people. Ohafia people are not betrayers, and we refuse to be used against him. Instead, we embrace him as one of our own,” Eni said.
He further credited his academic success to Kalu’s investment in education, describing himself as a beneficiary of the senator’s past educational policies.
Eni criticized some individuals outside the Ohafia clan whom he accused of exploiting the community’s name for political gains despite having no developmental footprint in the area. He stressed that Ohafia Udumeze would not be manipulated into political conflict.
“We will not allow those who did nothing for Ohafia while in power to now divide us for their selfish ambitions,” he said, adding that any conversation about political realignment in Ohafia should only begin after 2031.
Prof. Eni also expressed alignment with other prominent Ohafia leaders, including Dr. Ody Ajike, Mr. Ifeanyi Uchendu, Mr. Emeka Kalu, Chief Fred Idika, Bishop Silas Eke, Rev. Kalu Ukpai Ota, and Pastor Caleb Kalu Awa, in reaffirming unity and total support for Senator Kalu.
“The era of division is gone. Ohafia is united, and we stand with Sen. Orji Uzor Kalu,” he concluded.
