The Comptroller-General of Customs (CGC), Adewale Adeniyi, has called for renewed collaboration between the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) and the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN) to strengthen trade facilitation and address economic challenges.
Speaking in Abuja on Thursday during a courtesy visit by MAN’s Director-General, Segun Ajayi-Kadiri, Adeniyi said both institutions must move beyond short-term issues and establish a lasting framework for engagement.
He highlighted ongoing initiatives such as the Authorised Economic Operator programme, Advanced Ruling, and the indigenous B’Odogwu platform, while disclosing plans for a November conference on the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).
Ajayi-Kadiri described Customs as an indispensable partner, stressing that MAN’s structured policy process ensures its positions reflect the realities facing manufacturers. He welcomed Adeniyi’s openness and called for deeper collaboration, noting that industries under pressure require sustained support.
Both leaders agreed to intensify dialogue, with Customs expressing readiness to meet manufacturers at their Lagos base to advance a wider, more robust engagement.
