The Nigerian Shippers’ Council (NSC) has held a Performance Management System (PMS) workshop for its Directors, Deputy Directors, and Heads of Units as part of efforts to enhance institutional efficiency and align with the policy thrust of the Federal Ministry of Marine and Blue Economy.
The workshop follows the recent signing of a performance bond between the Executive Secretary/Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Akutah Pius, MON, and the Council’s directors and unit heads during its Special Management Retreat in Lagos. The initiative is designed to cascade performance targets across all levels of staff.
Declaring the workshop open, the Director of Human Resources Management, Mr. Ahmed Garta, underscored the importance of the PMS framework to the Council’s operations. He urged participants to take the training seriously and commit to achieving measurable results.
The session was facilitated by Prof. Adeyemi Ajayi, who provided in-depth insights into the principles and practices of performance management. He expressed confidence that the programme would strengthen staff capacity and translate into improved organisational performance.
According to the Council, the workshop is part of a broader effort to institutionalise a performance-driven culture where efficiency and accountability guide service delivery.
