The Badagry Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines, and Agriculture (BACCIMA) has reaffirmed its commitment to fostering economic growth in Badagry with a courtesy visit to the Executive Chairman of Badagry Local Government, Hon. Babatunde Hunpe.
The delegation, led by BACCIMA President, Alhaji Yahaya Oladiran Idris, visited the council secretariat on Wednesday to congratulate Hunpe on his victory in the last local government elections.
“Your election reflects your progressive vision and dedication to community service,” Idris said while also appreciating the council and Hunpe’s predecessor, Hon. Adeniran Teliat Onilude, for providing accommodation and facilities to the Chamber at critical times.
He outlined BACCIMA’s objectives, which include protecting the interests of members and the wider business community, promoting trade and tourism along the Lagos–Abidjan Corridor, advising government agencies on policies affecting commerce and industry, and sensitizing stakeholders to the economic potential of the Badagry Division.
Idris further highlighted the Chamber’s achievements since its establishment in 2017, particularly in trade facilitation, ease of doing business, and policy advocacy.
The meeting also provided an opportunity to deliberate on key developmental priorities such as the Badagry Deep Sea Port, cross-border trade formalization, youth empowerment, and strategies to attract investors to the area.
In his remarks, Hon. Hunpe commended BACCIMA’s initiatives and assured the delegation of his administration’s support. He emphasized the need for collaboration in investment promotion, capacity building, tourism development, and cross-border trade, while urging the Chamber to help woo investors to Badagry.
The BACCIMA team included First Deputy President, Mr. Ashamu Fadipe; Director General, Mr. Senu Seton; Director of IT, Mr. Whenu Adagba; Elder’s Advisory Council Member, Mr. Eugene Ihezeonu; and other distinguished members.
On the council’s side were Vice Chairman, Alhaji Akeem Adeyemi; Council Manager, Mrs. Olusanya Mary Abosede; Treasurer, Comrade Hunponu Olugbenga; Private Secretary, Dr. Samuel Sewedo; and Press Secretary, Mr. Kriko Augustine.
The visit ended with the presentation of an achievement award plaque to Hon. Hunpe by the BACCIMA President, followed by a vote of thanks from the First Deputy President, before a group photograph was taken.
