The Commissioner of Police, Ports Authority Police (Western) Command, CP Olanrewaju Olawale Ishola psc(+), mnips, on Wednesday hosted the President-General of the Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria (MWUN), Comrade Francis Bunu Abi, and members of the Union’s National Executive Council at the Command Headquarters in Lagos.
The high-level courtesy visit underscored the need for sustained collaboration between law enforcement agencies and maritime stakeholders to enhance the security, welfare, and operational efficiency within Nigeria’s ports.
In his address, Comrade Abi commended the Command for its strategic role in safeguarding port environments and maintaining industrial harmony. He assured the Commissioner of the Union’s continued cooperation with the Police to tackle emerging security threats, promote lawful behavior among members, and ensure seamless port operations.
In his response, CP Ishola lauded the MWUN leadership for its proactive engagement and reiterated the Command’s commitment to creating a peaceful and crime-free maritime space. He emphasized that effective port policing requires strong stakeholder collaboration, noting that information sharing and mutual support are key to sustaining maritime security.
The meeting concluded with an interactive session and an exchange of goodwill messages, reaffirming the shared resolve of both institutions to strengthen ties and promote a safer, more productive maritime industry.
