Chairman of the NIMAREX 2027 Planning Committee, Otunba Sola Adewunmi, disclosed this during an interview, explaining that the forthcoming edition would move beyond the traditional emphasis on high-profile personalities and award presentations to create a platform for meaningful industry-wide engagement.

Adewunmi, working alongside the Planning Committee Consultant, Funmi Folorunsho, explained that while the 2026 edition focused largely on reviving confidence in the expo after concerns about its sustainability, the 2027 edition would concentrate on consolidating that progress and strengthening the industry’s collective voice.

According to him, NIMAREX 2027 comes at a critical period when political campaigns and conversations around the next government are gaining momentum, making it important for the maritime industry to influence policy decisions, political manifestoes and government priorities.

He noted that the planning committee had embarked on consultations with maritime associations, stakeholders, the Federal Ministry of Marine and Blue Economy and other relevant institutions to identify practical ways of strengthening the industry.

Adewunmi stressed that the 2027 edition would prioritise stakeholder participation, collective thinking and the exchange of diverse perspectives rather than relying solely on celebrity appearances and prominent personalities.

He added that although awards and recognitions might feature in the programme, the major highlight would be the opportunity for industry players to come together, discuss critical challenges and develop strategies for a stronger and more competitive maritime sector.

The three-day NIMAREX 2027 is scheduled to hold on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, November 17, 18 and 19, respectively, venue Oriental Hotel Victoria Island Lagos

The expo is expected to bring together maritime professionals, industry associations, policymakers and other stakeholders to advance conversations on the future of Nigeria’s maritime industry.
