The Nigerian Ports Economic Regulatory Agency (NPERA) has honoured outstanding personnel at its combined 2025 CEO and SERVICOM Staff Recognition Awards, reaffirming its commitment to professionalism, accountability and quality service delivery.
The ceremony, held at the agency’s headquarters in Lagos, recognised staff whose performance and dedication contributed to the achievement of the agency’s objectives.
The Director-General and Chief Executive Officer of NPERA, Dr Akutah Pius, MON, represented by the Director of Finance and Accounts, Mr Steve Olaniyi, congratulated the award recipients and urged all personnel to uphold integrity, discipline and professionalism in the discharge of their duties.
Akutah noted that the transition from the Nigerian Shippers’ Council to NPERA under the NPERA Act, 2026, required higher standards of conduct and performance, stressing that collective commitment across departments would determine the agency’s credibility as a port economic regulator.

He emphasised the importance of continuous learning, technology-driven decision-making and practical solutions to simplify procedures, reduce delays and promote transparency at Nigerian ports.
The NPERA chief also identified mentorship as a key leadership responsibility and assured staff of management’s continued commitment to their welfare and professional development.
In her goodwill message, the Acting National Coordinator and Chief Executive Officer of SERVICOM, Mrs Helen Lawal, represented by Team Leader B, Dr Ben Onche Olofu, urged the agency to make excellence an everyday culture rather than an occasional achievement.

She noted that the quality of service delivered by an agency with critical regulatory responsibilities directly affects stakeholders and the wider economy.
According to her, every interaction, decision and responsibility presents an opportunity for public servants to demonstrate competence, fairness and responsiveness.
The awards ceremony featured the recognition of outstanding personnel across several categories, including Best Staff of the Year from each department or unit, Best Director of the Year, Best Department or Unit of the Year, Outstanding NYSC/Industrial Training personnel, Driver of the Year and Cleaner of the Year.
The NPERA Director-General also received a special award from the agency’s SERVICOM Unit.
The ceremony ended with networking and a renewed commitment by staff to support management’s vision of positioning NPERA as a world-class port economic regulator.
