Maritime Workers’ Bunu Urges Nigerians to Sustain Hope

The President-General of the Maritime Workers’ Union of Nigeria (MWUN), Comrade Francis Bunu Abi, has felicitated Nigerians on the occasion of the country’s Independence Day anniversary, commending citizens for their resilience, patriotism and enduring faith in Nigeria.

Bunu, in a goodwill message, said Nigerians deserved commendation for remaining steadfast despite the economic hardship, insecurity and other challenges confronting the country.

He described Nigerians as hardworking and resilient people who continue to demonstrate faith in the country and the belief that no challenge is insurmountable.

The MWUN President-General urged Nigerians to remain hopeful and committed to the country’s development, while acknowledging the ongoing efforts of the Federal Government under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to address the nation’s economic and security challenges.

Bunu recalled that Nigeria attained independence in October 1960, paying tribute to the sacrifices of the country’s founding fathers and past leaders who contributed to preserving the unity and sovereignty of the nation.

He stressed the importance of sustaining Nigeria’s unity despite its religious, cultural, ethnic and traditional diversity, noting that the strength of the country lies in its ability to remain united as one nation.

The maritime labour leader also called on Nigerians at home and in the diaspora to continue praying for peace, stability and progress, expressing optimism about Nigeria’s future and its place in the comity of nations.

He wished Nigerians a peaceful and memorable Independence Day celebration.
