The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Western Marine Command, Apapa, Lagos, has confirmed a fire incident at its premises on Monday, September 28, 2026.
The fire, which was detected at about 10:35 a.m., reportedly affected some offices and equipment within the Command. Thick smoke was initially observed emanating from the newly constructed conference hall.
According to the Command, officers on duty immediately activated emergency response protocols and took steps to contain the fire. Personnel of the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service arrived at about 11:25 a.m. and successfully brought the fire under control.
The Command confirmed that no life was lost and no injury was recorded in the incident, while preliminary assessment showed that some property and office equipment were affected.

The NCS said its core operations remain unaffected and continue normally. It has also constituted a committee to investigate the immediate and remote causes of the fire and recommend measures to prevent a recurrence.
