The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has concluded the final phase of its 2025 recruitment exercise, with shortlisted candidates completing documentation, physical fitness assessments and medical screening at the Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC), Gwagwalada, Abuja.
The two-week exercise, which began on Monday, September 7, 2026, ended on Saturday, September 19, with candidates drawn from the Assistant Superintendent of Customs II (ASCII), Inspectorate and Customs Assistant cadres. The screening was conducted in batches to minimise congestion and ensure an orderly process.
Speaking on the exercise, the Assistant Comptroller-General of Customs in charge of Human Resource Development, Frank Onyeka, said the Service had addressed challenges identified during the earlier phase and introduced measures to improve efficiency and streamline the screening process.
Deputy Comptroller of Customs and member of the coordinating team, Adamu Musa, said the exercise had recorded significant improvements, with nearly 3,000 candidates screened without any casualty. He attributed the progress to the introduction of personalised screening forms containing candidates’ details and records for documentation, sports, medical assessments and other stages.
Musa stressed the importance of continuous manpower development, noting that an adequately trained workforce was essential to strengthening the NCS’s responsibilities in border protection, national security and revenue administration. He added that candidates would be assessed against established criteria, including age, physical fitness and drug screening, with final decisions on disqualification subject to the Service’s management.
The Customs official also urged applicants and members of the public to rely only on the NCS’s official website and verified social media platforms for recruitment information, warning against fraudulent messages and recruitment scams.
