BACCIMA Earns Pan-African Recognition Among Africa’s Top 20 Trade Leaders

The President of the Badagry Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (BACCIMA) Yahaya Oladiran Idris has been recognised among the Top 20 Africa – Outstanding Presidents in Regional Trade & Economic Development Leadership, earning continental acclaim for his strategic role in trade promotion and cross-border economic integration.
The honour was conferred by Panafrican Bilingual Corporates Magazine and its selection committee at the Panafrican Corporates Awards, in recognition of his impactful leadership and dedication to advancing Africa’s economic development agenda.
Reacting to the award, the BACCIMA President expressed profound gratitude, describing the recognition as both humbling and motivating. He noted that his professional journey  from public service in the Nigeria Customs Service to leading one of Nigeria’s most strategic chambers of commerce  has consistently been guided by discipline, transparency, institutional reform, and a strong belief in Africa’s economic potential.

He dedicated the award to the Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (NACCIMA), trade facilitators, security agencies, policymakers, and members of BACCIMA who continue to work tirelessly to advance legitimate cross-border trade and strengthen economic cooperation within the ECOWAS sub-region.
“As the voice of businesses operating along the Lagos–Abidjan corridor widely regarded as the most strategic trade route in West Africa  BACCIMA has remained at the forefront of advocacy for economic development, formalisation of informal cross-border trade, and the promotion of policies that support seamless regional integration Oladiran noted.

The President reaffirmed the Chamber’s commitment to promoting sustainable trade policies, strengthening institutional governance, and advancing Africa’s economic diplomacy for shared prosperity. he further announced the First BACCIMA International Trade Fair will hold from May 8 to May 17, 2026, at the Lagos International Trade Fair Complex, Badagry Expressway, Lagos.

The event is expected to attract investors, manufacturers, exporters, policymakers, and trade stakeholders from across Africa and beyond. The recognition, he said, is not only a personal milestone but a renewed call to deepen collaboration, expand economic frontiers, and accelerate regional integration across the African continent. He said.
