Nigerian Navy Secondary School Abeokuta (NNSS Abeokuta) has emerged victorious in the relay race event at the 8th Annual Sports Competition, outperforming five other participating schools to secure first position.
The competition, hosted at Command Secondary School Lafenwa, showcased athletic excellence and inter-school camaraderie, with NNSS Abeokuta standing out for its speed, coordination, and teamwork.
The school’s triumph adds to its growing reputation for sporting excellence, as it also finished first at the Invitational Relay Race Competition organised by Mueenat International School Abeokuta earlier in February.
Speaking at the event, the Commandant of NNSS Abeokuta, Captain O.A. Adesiyan, congratulated the students on their impressive performance and urged them to remain academically focused while nurturing their talents. Represented by the Deputy Commandant, Lieutenant Commander K.S. Muhammad, she described the victory as a reflection of discipline, dedication, and structured training.

“The students’ victory showcases their commitment to both training and discipline,” she said, noting that sports create pathways for scholarships, career opportunities, and personal development.
The Brigade Commander also lauded the students for their sportsmanship and resilience, describing their achievement as a testament to hard work and collective effort. He further commended officers, men, and civilian staff for their mentorship and support, encouraging continued dedication to shaping students into disciplined and responsible citizens.
NNSS Abeokuta’s successive victories underscore the institution’s balanced emphasis on academic excellence and extracurricular development. The competition concluded on a high note, reinforcing the values of teamwork, perseverance, and service to the nation.
