Nigerian Navy Secondary School Port Harcourt Honours Outstanding Achievers at 2025 Prize Giving Day

The Nigerian Navy Secondary School, Port Harcourt (NNSS PH), renowned for its strong academic standards and leadership-focused education, held its 2025 Prize Giving Day on Saturday, December 6.

The event brought together parents, senior naval officers, faculty members and education stakeholders to celebrate exceptional student performance across multiple disciplines.
In her keynote address, the Commandant, Captain Chinomso Edna Omezurike, praised the school’s academic and administrative teams for their unwavering commitment to excellence. She noted that the awards were not merely ceremonial, but strategic instruments aimed at motivating students to pursue continuous improvement, discipline, and self-leadership.

This year’s ceremony featured an extensive list of award categories designed to highlight student accomplishments in academics, discipline, creativity, innovation, and overall character. Among the categories were:

 Best in WAEC and NECO ; Academic Excellence Awards
 Commandant’s Leadership Awards ; Best Conduct Awards
STEM and Innovation Awards ;  Sports and Physical Fitness Awards; Literary, Debate, and Public Speaking Awards
 Creative Arts and Cultural Performance Awards ; Special Recognition Awards ; Best in Science ;Best in Arts
Best Teacher Award ;

Captain Omezurike affirmed that the awards reflect NNSS PH’s firm commitment to nurturing disciplined, intellectually sound, and well-rounded students. By recognizing top performers in Science, Arts, Leadership, Conduct, Innovation, Sports, and Cultural Expression, the school continues to promote a holistic model of student development.
Parents and students expressed gratitude to the Chief of Naval Staff, Rear Admiral Idi Abbas, for his sustained support and for ensuring a safe, enabling environment for learning at the institution.

The ceremony ended with renewed pledges from the school’s leadership to deepen operational efficiency, enhance academic quality, and further expand student development programmes. These commitments, they emphasized, align with Nigerian Navy educational standards and national expectations, reinforcing the school’s mission to equip students with the skills, values, and knowledge needed to thrive in an increasingly competitive world.
