LASTCOC Commends NPA for Improved Traffic Flow at Apapa Amid Bridge Repairs

The Lagos State Truck and Cargo Operators Committee (LASTCOC) has commended the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) for sustaining smooth traffic operations around the Apapa Port corridor despite ongoing repair works on the Marine Bridge.
The repairs, being undertaken by the Federal Ministry of Works, recently contributed to renewed gridlock along the Ijora–Apapa axis, leaving import and export trucks stranded for extended periods. However, LASTCOC said the proactive, round-the-clock engagement of the Apapa Port Manager has significantly eased the situation.

In a statement issued by its Chairman, Mr. Shittu Lukmon, the committee praised the NPA leadership for ensuring continuous movement of export trucks into the Lagos Port Complex (LPC) and improving traffic flow at the Export Processing Terminals (EPTs) across Lagos.
Lukmon noted that despite the temporary delays caused by construction activities, NPA management has maintained seamless movement of inbound and outbound vehicles around the port area, minimising disruptions to port operations.

He lauded the Apapa Port Manager’s dedication, describing him as an exemplary administrator whose hands-on approach has earned the support of the trucking community.
“This is commendable work from the Apapa Port Manager. I have never seen a port manager like him. I’ve seen him at the port on Saturdays and Sundays, making sure the entire system runs seamlessly,” Lukmon stated.
He reiterated LASTCOC’s commitment to supporting efforts that promote efficiency and stability within the Lagos Port Complex.
