Onne Truck Parks Back NPA’s E-Call-Up Rollout to End Port Gridlock

Truck park owners in Onne, Rivers State, have thrown their weight behind the full deployment of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA)’s Electronic Call-Up System, a move expected to end years of crippling traffic congestion along the Eastern Port corridor.
Stakeholders say the rollout marks a significant turning point that will restore order, boost operational efficiency, and protect investments across the trucking and logistics value chain.
Chairman of the Nigerian Port Consultative Council (NPCC), Onne Chapter, Mr. Godwin Ololuke, confirmed that all preparations for the system’s commencement have been concluded. He noted that truck park operators and the system consultant recently met with NPA management through the Port Manager, paving the way for a smooth implementation.

According to Ololuke, the electronic call-up initiative is designed to regulate truck movements in and around the port, ensuring safety for all road users  including schoolchildren and residents living near the corridor.
Truck driver, Mr. Johnbull Igbikiowubo, described the development as timely and beneficial, urging full cooperation from all stakeholders to guarantee its success and support the national economy.
Also speaking, an official of Waterhouses Marine and Logistics Limited, Olumide Ibitolu, attributed recent traffic disorder to the rush by truck owners to register under the new system, expressing optimism that normalcy will return once the rollout stabilizes.
